Slow Processor Speed
Many manufacturers include with their laptops power-saving features which slow the processor down when there is less drain on the processor in order to lengthen battery life. The processor auto-adjusts its speed to meet its current demand. When the processor speed is checked through Windows, Windows only gives the current actual speed. 1.8 GHz is the maximum rated speed of this processor. To check that you did receive the correct model, while the computer is booting, please enter the BIOS Setup by pressing either F2 or F10 (it varies by model, you should see a message that says Press F# to enter setup or something similar; press the directed key). You should be able to view all the system specifications, including the processor title and speed. If you have any questions about the processor or these power-saving features, you can contact the manufacturer of the laptop or processor. Regarding the memory, this laptop uses 128 MB shared video memory for its graphics processor. Basically, this means that the video processor uses the same memory as the rest of the system, and the 128 MB video memory is subtracted from the total 512 MB system memory. The amount of memory shared by the video card can be changed from within the BIOS. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
